CMakeLists.txt contains now the version numbers for DMD and (next) LDC release.
If a .git folder is found then the LDC version is replaced by the first 6 chars
of the Git revision.
Possible improvements:
- If the build is not done at the master branch then it could be useful to check for a tag and use the tag instead of the revision. (for release builds)
- Maybe it is useful to include the branch name.
This fixes issue #366.
I hope I have untangled the checks for "native" Windows (Triple::Win32)
vs. Windows/MinGW/Cygwin (Triple::isOSWindows) correctly.
MinGW needs some default libraries as well, has to be fixed later.
The Param struct is very different between DMD and LDC. This is a start
to mark the differences. This also includes identifying unused switches
- like the debug? switches.
A lot of system specific knowledge is already present in LLVM. This is used to populate several fields in global.params instead of hard coded values in main(). Ensures that the frontend and LLVM have always the same values.
The string representation of the data layout is retrieved from the TargetData class (in main) and passed via global.params.dataLayout to the module. Since the gTargetData is also a global variable it makes no sense to pass this information using another global variable.
The Windows linker LINK insists on the .obj extension. The following changes are made:
- CMake uses the same extension as the C compiler
- global.obj_ext_alt (aka .obj) is recognized as objectfile extension
- global.obj_ext_alt is used on Windows
- New functions codeGenOptLevel() and verifyModule() to remove code duplication
- Hidden option no-verify renamed to disable-verify and moved to optimizer (like opt tool)
- Removed global.params.noVerify
- Wraps some LDC specific code in 'IN_LLVM' section
- Adds some MSVC specific code to 'IN_LLVM' section
- Removes an unused include file
Net result is much less errors with MSVC.
Now you can run "`ldc test.d -c -mem2reg -simplifycfg`" if you feel the urge.
The -O<N> options are still supported, and are inserted in the passes list in
the position where they appear on the command line.
(so -simplifycfg -O1 -instcombine does the "right thing")
One small change: -inline is renamed to -enable-inlining due to a naming
conflict with the option to add the -inline pass. -inline now inserts the
inlining pass in the position specified, not in the middle of -O<N>.
(ldmd has been updated to translate -inline to -enable-inlining)
Also moved the #defines for linkage types into a separate header instead of
mars.h so we can #include revisions.h without having to rebuild the entire
frontend every time we update.
(I'm using revisions.h to get the LLVM revision for use in preprocessor
conditionals. It should work with LLVM release 2.5, old trunk and new trunk)
- Moved main() into its own file gen/main.cpp
- Fixed basic cross compilation
- removed the option for setting OS
- added support for llc's mattr, mcpu and mtriple switches
- added basic ABI abstraction for return value rewrites, it's not perfect and will probably be completely rewritten once I get to handling parameter rewrites as well.
- x86-64 extern(C) abi for cfloat returns now match (llvm-)gcc.
